Cheryl Gerber began her journalism career as a reporter for a Louisiana daily newspaper. She wrote for two additional newspapers and was assistant editor of New Orleans Magazine before she decided to pursue her passion for photography. In 1991, she moved to Honduras for one year where she documented Latin American culture and worked partime for Honduras This Week. Since then her photos have appeared in such national magazines as Popular Photography, Rollingstone, and Food Arts. Locally, Gerber's photos can be seen regularly in CityBusiness, St. Charles Avenue, La Prensa and Gambit Weekly, where she is on staff. She has won numerous press awards, including the Hal Ledet Print Photography for 2000 and 2001, for documentary and feature photography on such social issues and homelessness, living with AIDS, and runaway teens. Much of her stock photography includes local characters, artists, musicians, as well as politicians and businessmen. |
