Plunge is an alternative, groove driven, jazz-funk ensemble featuring trombone and alphorn, tuba/sousaphone, double bass, drums and percussion.  Our music is all original and designed to be moved to.  It's our hope that when you listen and dance to Plunge you will be moved to a place where your blood pumps in rhythms that gyrate your soul as well as your frame.

We lay down a solid, double thick groove, add some melodic personality, then improvise either as a group or as individuals. The result is at the same time playful and intriguing. Our compositions span a wide variety of styles ranging from Hip Hop and Funk to New Orleans Second Line; the streets of Manhattan to the shores of the Caribbean.

Plunge's critically acclaimed first CD "Falling With Grace" created a resounding buzz throughtout the music industry and general public alike.  The band maintained a strong presence in both the press and radio with twelve consecutive weeks at between #14 and #18 on the CMJ jazz chart and a unanimously enthusiastic shower of rave reviews in prominent trade magazines and newspapers.   "Falling With Grace" has enjoyed Top 10 and heavy rotation in one-third of the U.S. jazz radio market and has been featured regularly on NPR/PRI Monitor Radio as "the freshest album of its type this year."  The CD was also submitted for Grammy nomination.   With compositions and performance that have proven accessible not only to the jazz and acid-jazz audience but also to current rock, funk, and groove audiences, Plunge has crossed into a wider market currently shared with the likes of Medeski Martin and Wood, Charlie Hunter, and Galactic (ex. "Falling With Grace" was the #2 jazz CD and #23 CD overall on radio station KVRX in Austin, Texas).

With brilliant, mysterious production from Tom Dube, "Falling With Grace" is both atmospheric and punchy -- and, incidentally, a treat for headphone wearers.
